About Our Founder, Charles Omofomwan
Charles Omofomwan is a passionate advocate for education, gender equality, and community empowerment. Inspired by the remarkable life and resilience of his mother, Madam Grace Agbonlahor, Charles established the Grace Agbonlahor Foundation (GAF) in 2024 to honour her legacy. The foundation represents a continuation of his mother’s mission to transform lives through education and social impact initiatives. Grace’s story, from being a market trader to co-founding a savings and loan association to support her community and prioritizing her children’s education despite significant challenges, remains a profound influence on Charles’s vision and values.
Before founding GAF, Charles led Noble Missions for Change Initiative (NMI), a charity organization he started in 2015 to improve access to quality education for underprivileged children in Nigeria. Under his leadership, NMI developed impactful initiatives, such as I Take Actions, a civic tech platform that mobilized citizens to address critical education and governance issues. The platform’s success led to significant milestones, including securing government resources for underfunded schools and enrolling children into education programs that transformed their lives.
In 2021, Charles’s leadership and innovation were recognized when I Take Actions won the prestigious Nelson Mandela-Graça Machel Innovation Award. This accolade highlighted his dedication to leveraging technology for systemic change and improving educational access. Charles ended NMI in 2024 to birth GAF, a broader platform for advancing his mission of social impact in Nigeria. In his memoir, A Mother’s Legacy: My Journey in the Charity Sector, Charles reflects on the values instilled by his mother, his experiences in the charity sector, and his vision for a world where education, equality, and empowerment are accessible to all. His journey exemplifies the power of resilience, innovation, and purpose-driven action in creating meaningful and lasting change.
